Virtual Vandalism
»Virtual Vandalism« is an Augmented Reality exhibition that transforms Hamburg’s Neuer Wall into a stage for exploring the intersection of urban art and commercial spaces. By overlaying a digital layer onto the public realm, it questions who truly owns the city and how residents can engage with existing spaces.
Using 3D scans of graffiti from collaborating artists and Instagram-style filters triggered by trackers, the project creates an alternate, virtual version of the shopping street. This fusion of real and digital invites reflection on spatial use while observing reactions from property owners, store staff, and the public—testing whether it sparks conflict, dialogue, or coexistence.
